Category: accessible Devices
The title pretty much says it all. I'm looking for an accessible weather station, perhaps something with an accessible app. Does anyone know if such an animal exists?
Sure. Your body.
You see, you've got two arms and you can stick your hand outside and tell many things about the weather.
Laughing.
I've heard those exist, but haven't found one either.
I'm involved with an amateur radio group who does reporting on storms to the NWS. I need to be able to give accurate readings of wind spead, rain fall, etc. ;p
A personal weather station is on my "wish list" as well. This is what I've been looking at, but not tried yet...

It is compatible with a few weather stations and tracks wind speed, wind gusts and direction, temperature, rainfall etc. It will also send email and text alerts.
Hope that helps.

If you are interested, albeit not a physical weather station, you can use the weatherstar4000 emulator which is what the weather channel used for it's local on the eights from 1990 to 1995 and later I think. There is an accessible web version that looks just like the one on tv and has tts readout. Here is the link if you want it
WeatherStar4000+
Just enter your zip at the top and click get gps location, it should start playing after a view minutes, be sure to click the narrations link to on.
There is even an installable version from taiganet. You will need the XNA framework from Microsoft and dot net 4.5. I have the entire package, including manual for the 4000 simulator if you want it. It pulls information from the NWS and others.
Thanks, y'all.
I'll check these out. The one that pulls info from the NWS won't work for me as
I need to be able to report to the NWS during storm spotting.
Thanks very much though.
